17 Things I Have Learnt In 17 Years.

As Tuesday marked my seventeenth year as an occupant on this Earth I thought I would share with you some things that I have learnt about everything throughout those seventeen years.

  1. No matter how hard you try to keep someone in you're life, if they're not meant to be there, gradually they won't be. You can hold on for dear life thinking that someone is a person that you need to have around you, sometimes, for whatever reason they're not good for you, not they type of person you need in you're life.
  2. Books are the BEST way to escape reality, even just for a little while. You get lost in the fictional story line of interesting characters living a completely different life to the one you live and its great.
  3. Online shopping over real shopping any day. No busy people fussing through the shopping centre, no pushy sales assistants and 24 hours a day, 7 days a week? No more explanation needed.
  4. Opportunities aren't going to knock on your door, you have to knock on theirs. Is the saying "grab the bull by its horns?" is that right?
  5. Being indecisive leads to fun memories. I'm constantly indecisive about my hair colour and have been through multiple hair colours resulting in some good memories. Can decide where to holiday? Do it all!
  6. "Too many clothes." and "Too much makeup" are not things. All serve their purpose even if it takes a while for you too realise that its still stashed in your cupboard.
  7. If you can't say it, write it. Unless you're breaking up with someone then don't. But feelings that you cant express through your mouth are sometimes easier to let the pages of a journal or word document be filled with.
  8. Being cool doesn't matter. I spent far too long wanting to be in the popular group only to realise that in actual fact I didn't like any of them, how they acted and what they represented, at all.
  9. A good song and a dance around your bedroom can instantly raise you're mood. I can recommend some head banging and very, very bad dancing.
  10. A pet is the best friend you can have. I have a cat and she is great.
  11. Don't know something? Google it. Google holds the secrets to everything and anything, scarily even of you, you'r friends and that guy you're thinking of going on a date with.
  12. You can be the most introverted person in the world, but at some point you are going to need people. You might not want to admit it but it you do really need help from the outside.
  13. Words hurt. enough said.
  14. Whatever you write on social media will come back to bite you. Thinking before you post is the best tip I have ever recieved, future employers, family, everyone can see what you post, what does it say about you?
  15. Asking questions is how you learn. Being too shy to ask for help or ask simple questions will not get you anywhere.
  16. There is no set amount of times you can watch you're favourite TV show on a loop.. for days. It will never get old, will continue to be funny/sad/beautiful for as long as you love it.
  17. Once you break someones trust, have fun trying to get it back. So easy to break, so hard to regain.
