Whats In My Holiday Make-Up Bag

At the moment I am having a little holiday with my family, and because it is summer in Australia we obviously headed for the beach. I was told to "pack light" which lets be real here is a pretty hard thing for me to do (I mean seriously.) Light means a large suitcase yes? But anyway I didn't pack much makeup, mainly the necessities for a beach get away so I thought I would share with you the contents of my makeup bag (or bags whatever).

Lets start with my base products that I brought along with me. I cannot physically function without putting on face moisturiser on before ANYTHING goes on my face and lately I've been having some breakout (argh!) so for the trip I threw in my Natio Acne Clear Day Oil Free Moisturiser. I love this stuff and have done so for a while now- it helps with the blemishes that are already on my face but it also stops the ones that are thinking of popping up. It also helps to control the shine on my face, providing a matte finish. Next up is primer, I can't live without primer and obviously I reached straight for my holy grail primer from LancĂ´me it it there LA Base Pro Makeup Primer. I've probably talked about this before because I love this stuff with all my heart! It's a silicone primer thats oil free (perfect for all you gals/guys with oily skin) and does the best job of filling in those little lines and pores to create the perfect base for your foundation to perfectly glide over. Obviously I'm at the beach- my skin is going to get a little a bit more tanned (thank goodness!) so I need a slightly darker than my pale white skin foundation, but I also didn't want something too heavy and full coverage, I mean really it's the beach! Who needs full coverage at the beach! This foundation used to be one of my favourites for a really long time so I thought it was the right time to pick it up again and put it too good use. This this is the Max Factor Facefinity All Day Flawless Foundation and it is perfect for a beach trip. It isn't full coverage, but has enough to hide all the little blemishes you want to hide. The bottle says it is a primer, concealer and foundation in one, so if you did want to skip primer I guess you could, but I don't feel like I could ah! For concealer I chucked in the Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer - you all know about this concealer, its a cult classic and for good reason. Perfect converge, consistency and it blends s perfectly! To finish off my base and set it perfectly in place I brought the Maybelline Fit Me Pressed Powder to set the foundation and concealer and just add a little bit more of a matte finish to my face.

Everyone around me knows that I am all about my brows and just because I'm on holidays does not mean I am about to let them roam free (eeek!) Obviously I chucked in some tweezers and small scissors  because you never know when an emergency might arise! I always talk about the Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade and how perfect it is- so obviously I had to bring it along with me! For the lighter, more natural days I chucked in a brow pencil which is the Revlon Colourstay Eyebrow Liner but really I haven't used it all that much.

I cannot go a day without blush and bronzer and highlighter, is that bad? In the interest of saving some space my Napoleon Perdis Greatest Hits Cheek Palette was the perfect addition with two bronzing colours, two blush colours and two highlighters, it's the perfect travel palette! Just in case I wanted to have a bit more of a bronzed look I also brought along my Hoola by Benefit Bronzer- another cult classic! Such a versatile bronzer that's perfect for a beach trip!

For eye shadow I brought two less expensive eye shadow palettes- you know just in case. The first is the Chi Chi Cosmetics Elegant Palette which is filled with purple toned shadows- mostly shimmery but some are also matte. I'm not sure why I grabbed this palette but I did, so whatcha gon' do bout it? The second is what I've been mainly using and it is the  Makeup Academy Professional Palette. This is twelve brown based colours that are mainly nudes. This is good for when you just want a more natural look over the elegant look of the Chi Chi palette. For mascara I also brought along two- a girl has to have some choice! I packed the Benefit They're Real Mascara for the days I was spending at the beach, or there was a possibility I was going to end up in the water. This mascara has amazing staying power (sometimes to amazing) and holds the curl perfectly! The second mascara was for lighter makeup days, and it was the Max Factor Masterpiece Transform this adds such amazing volume and length to the eyelashes but at the same time keeps them looking somewhat natural.

For the lips I apparently brought along four options- two drugstore, two higher end. The first drugstore product is the Revlon Colourstay Moisture Stain in the colour Parsian Passion. This stain works wonders, it lasts for so long and looks good the whole time! I grabbed this colour for statement lips, you never know who you might meet on holidays! The second drugstore product is the Australis Velourlips Matte Lip Cream in the colour Pa-ree. This is my favourite nude-brown lip colour, for those natural days that I was talking about. I've previously talked about this in a different post, but hey it's in my bag so what the hell! This is the Nars Audacious Lipstick in the colour Audrey. This is my current favourite pink colour that I can pretty much get away with wearing in an everyday look. Its not bright pink (eek!) its more of a red toned pink and that's my go to colour. Because I was planning on having some nights out I also packed in my Mac Lipstick in the colour Rebel- the perfect statement lips on a night out!
L-R: Revlon Colorstay Moisture Stain, Australis Velourlips, Nars, Mac

So that is my holiday makeup bag, I think I probably should have packed more but oh well! Let me know if there is something you think should be in there but isn't!
