Mister Jones Vitamins | The Supplement Diaries

Did you miss the last chapter of The Supplement Diaries? Yes? Click here, I talked about Alpha Venus by ATP Science.

Disclaimer. Obviously I am not pushing these supplements on to people, not telling you, you HAVE to buy them or whatever else else, I am simply giving you some information on the product and giving you my thoughts and how it worked for me. Just because a product has worked or not worked for me in no way states that it is going to be that way for everyone. Clearly I am not a professional, just someone doing their research and having their own experiences and sharing them. Please do your own research before deciding if the product is right for you.

Sometimes we all really do need a helping hand to keep our energy levels and brain function at optimal levels through out the day, and a helping hand to unwind at the end of it. Enter Mister Jones vitamins- correctly titled "the perfect pair" I purchased both the Rise + Shine vitamins and the Sleep Tight bottle as well. How does it work? You take two of the Rise + Shine in the morning and two of the Sleep Tight at night, pretty straight forward, right?
Each bottle contains sixty tablets, which is a months worth. I also want to let you know that there is a membership option for this, so Mister Jones will send you a months supply at the same time every month- so it's one less thing you have to worry about! I was super impressed with shipping- I ordered on the Wednesday and by the Friday it was next to my front door when I arrived home for lunch- and I live in the middle of nowhere!

Rise + Shine

Let me get this clear, this is not a miracle- its a vitamin tablet and believe me when I say this is my favourite, and I have tried a few. I began taking this after seeing it on Instagram (which is where I find most things I purchase these days), obviously you don't see an instant reaction, you don't magically feel 100 times better after popping two of the tablets, but within a few days of consistently taking the tablets you notice a difference. I took two weeks off these tablets ( I had a shitty few weeks and could barely bring myself to remember to eat let alone have some tablets every morning), but when I took the two weeks off I was noticeably deflated, compared to when I was consistently taking them.
So what is in them? The ingredients list the following:
Vitamin B1 (Thiamine)- An essential vitamin that is used by the body to help turn food into energy. Should you be deficient in B1 your looking at impacted function of the nervous system, heart and the brain.
Vitamin B2 (Riboflavin)- A vitamin responsible for maintaining healthy blood cells, boosting energy levels, facilitating a health metabolism and SO much more including the protection of skin and eye health. While B2 deficiency isn't common in the Western world the repercussions could include anaemia, fatigue, nerve damage and skin disorders among other things.
Vitamin B3 (Niacin)- A vital vitamin that has an important function in maintaining cardiovascular health and metabolism- like your cholesterol levels. When given in high doses you can see side effects of too much B3, but should you be deficient in it (again not common in the Western world) signs could be pellagra, mucous membrane swelling and gastrointestinal disturbances.
Vitamin B5 (Pantothenic Acid)- A vitamin that is found in all cells of the body leaving it with many uses in the body. These include balancing blood sugar, nutrient conversion, lowering high blood pressure and the prevention of heart failure. The energy that is produced by B5 is responsible for firing the neurotransmitters in the brain and is responsible for producing the sex and stress related hormones. Due to b5 occurring in almost all foods is it hard to have a deficiency, but symptoms of a deficiency would be fatigue, depression, irritability and insomnia.
Vitamin B6 (Pyridoxine)- B6 helps to maintain a healthy nervous system and helps in the production of haemoglobin that carries the oxygen in the red blood cells. A deficiency in B6 can lead to nerve damage int he hands and the feet, and there has also been links to cervical dysplasia.
Rhodiola Rosea (Rose Root)- In traditional European countries rose root has been known to be used as a medicinal plant, mainly as a tonic. Through modern research is has been reveled that the plant increases the bodies resistance to stress by assisting in the regulation of hormones. It is also linked to mood enhancement in the transport of serotonin precursors into the brain.
Bacopa Monnieri (Water Hyssop)- This is a herb more commonly used in Indian medicine. Research has shown that it helps to improve cognition by reducing anxiety and improving memory function.
Kelp- More commonly seen in the ocean, kelp surprisingly has  few benefits when supplemented into the body. Kelp is actually one of the words most potent sources of iodine, which of course is vital for various thyroid hormones, which play an essential role in the regulation of a few metabolic processes.
Green Tea- Odd choice? Maybe. But take a moment to think about the benefits of green tea, they include lowering of blood pressure, improving memory, reducing cholesterol levels and improving bone density. Doesn't seem like such an odd choice now does it?
What isn't in them? The label of these vitamins says you are consuming no yeast, no gluten, no lactose, no artificial colours, flavours or preservatives.
From that whole list of what is and what isn't in Rise + Shine, can you tell why I decided to go with Mister Jones?

Sleep Tight

Similar to the Rise + Shine you take two of these tablets, except not in the morning, duh, you take them at night before bed. I am a person who isn't a fan of sleeping tablets, I have a good sleep but wake up groggy and not ready for the day at all. I would rather have a shitty sleep than have a good one but feel shitty during the day. These aren't sleeping tablets, they're vitamins that promote a good, healthy sleep. On a night when I take these compared to a night when I don't I feel calmer before going to bed and I fall asleep faster. I am a terrible sleeper so I didn't expect these pills to cure my whole sleep problems, which it hasn't, but it has made it easier to fall asleep.
The website also tells me that these pills are good for improving sleep (as above), calming, cold and flu,  the immune system, cell protection and digestion.
So what's in them?
Zinc- Primarily zinc is taken when zinc deficiency is detected in the body, however it does have some added benefits of consumption. It has been found to boost the immune system, treatment of the common cold and ear infections, as well as preventing lower respiratory infections. Zinc deficiency often occurs in people with chronic diarrhoea and conditions that make it difficult for the bowel to absorb food.
Magnesium- An essential mineral for many processes throughout the body, magnesium is used by almost all tissues in the body- is it's pretty important! What happens if you don't get enough of it? Lowered appetite, nausea and vomitting, fatigue and body weakness.
Vitamin B6- (Pyridoxine)- B6 helps to maintain a healthy nervous system and helps in the production of haemoglobin that carries the oxygen in the red blood cells. A deficiency in B6 can lead to nerve damage int he hands and the feet, and there has also been links to cervical dysplasia. (Yes, I 100% did just copy and paste my description from the Rise + Shine, ain't no body got time to re-word that shit.)
Lemon Balm- Please tell me I was not the only who thought this was a lemon lip balm kind of thing until I thought 'yeah no Elyssa, you're wrong.' This is actually a herb and is a member of the mint family. Since way back in the Middle Ages it has been used to reduce stress and anxiety, promote sleep and easy discomfort and pain in the body.
Black Pepper- I had absolutely no idea how good black pepper actually is for the body until I performed this research. Benefits of black pepper include improving digestion, weight loss and providing respiratory relief.
As with the Rise + Shine tablets, Sleep Tight have no yeast, gluten, lactose, artificial colours, flavours or preservatives.

From the ingredients list you can see why I take these and love them! Two small tablets in the morning and two in the night time and look at how many amazing vitamins and minerals are going into your body!
