Positivity & Productivity Part 3: Daily Habits

I am one of those people that HAS to start the day in the same way every day in order for me to have a successful day.. is that weird? Maybe, but none the less. I have put together a definitive list of habits you can do on the daily to improve you day in general. Some days cannot be resurrected, I know that, you know that, we all know that, but these are just some ideas to make sure your day is as less crappy as it could possibly be.

  • Exercise.
    You all know I am a firm believer in exercising for the soul purpose of feeling good. You always feel good after moving your body, even if it is just a twenty minute walk. The release of the endorphins will always leave you in a good mood.
  • Get some sun.
    I was always a skeptic of how the sun in anyway improves your mood, but since i switch from driving to work every day to either walking or riding my bike, I can totally understand it. There is something about being in the fresh air (even better when there are no fly's) and the sunshine that puts you in a good mood.
  • Don't check your phone first thing. 
    I mean wake up and turn your alarm off, but don't start your day by staring at the screen and scrolling through social media. I find that when I check my phone first thing I am way less motivated to get out of bed, no matter how much I look at the time and say to myself "in a minute..". I, personally, find it easier to start the day by just jumping out of bed and getting on with it, check your phone later on.
  • Take time to yourself. 
    At some point in the day, call yourself in for a time out and just do you, do something for you and your state of mind. It can be as simple as reading a book, getting your hair done, whatever it is, just take some time, each day to chill out.
  • Smile more, even if you have to force it.
    I can guarantee you the first few smiles I have on my face during a work day are not genuine, they are forced and the person I am talking to can 100% see that because frankly, I am not very good at hiding it. Eventually, you just start smiling naturally and you don't even have to think about it.
  • Surround yourself with positive people. 
    Being around Negative Nancy is only going to bring your vibe crashing down. Tune them out, move away from them, tell them to buzz off, whatever you do, just get rid of them and their negative vibes.
  • Set yourself up for the day. 
    This is what I was talking about in part two, have a to-do list. Write everything you want to get done in a day written down somewhere (even in an app) and tick it off as you get it done. This will keep you on track and (hopefully) get everything done!
  • Drink water. 
    I am guilty of never drinking enough water, I have all the intentions to drink the recommended eight glasses a day (or whatever it is) and then I never follow through- I get distracted. Easiest way to get it done is buy a drink bottle and take it with you everywhere, eventually you will drink water so often you're body does it subconsciously.
  • Have a clean environment. 
    I cannot deal with having a cluttered working space, both my office and my house need to be in some kind of order for me to not feel uncomfortable at the sight of it. I am much more productive when I know everything is neat and in order.
  • Get enough sleep.
    Duh, how many times are we told that we need to get enough sleep in order of our body to function. On days where I haven't got enough sleep there is a good chance I am going to get a lot less done and feel a lot less positive than on the days that I have had a decent amount of sleep.
  • Eat well. 
    How shitty do you feel when all you've eaten all day is crap food? Not good. Eat to fuel your body to get shit done. Obviously you don't have to cut out unhealthy food forever, eat intuitively, make food swaps, just eat better.
  • Educate yourself. 
    As a person who has gone from studying to not studying this year, I am struggling, that is why you're getting all these posts that I need to research.. because I don't like not learning something new. Self education is so easy, you don;t have to go out and enrol in some expensive course, books and the internet is your best friend when it comes to self educating.
